Frequently asked questions

How do I add an entry?

Tap the New tab at the bottom, import one or more photos from your library, and add a title, notes, mood, and location. Diario di Luce reads the camera, lens, and exposure details automatically.

The date or time on an entry is wrong (my camera’s clock was off). Can I fix it?

Yes. Open the entry, tap Edit, and adjust the Date & Time field. The date is first filled in from the photo, but anything you set by hand takes over.

What does Diario di Luce Pro include?

One simple, one-time purchase unlocks every premium feature — AI Writing Helper, Year in Review, Advanced Insights, the Lens Library, and Custom Moods — plus any premium features added in future updates. No subscriptions.

I bought Pro but it’s locked on my other device / after reinstalling.

Open Settings › Unlock Pro and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you’re signed in with the same Apple Account, your purchase will restore for free.

Can I create my own moods?

Yes, with Pro. In the mood picker tap + New, choose an emoji and a name, and it appears alongside the built-in moods.

Where are my photos and entries stored? Is anything uploaded?

Everything stays on your device. There are no accounts and no servers — nothing is uploaded. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I back up or move my journal?

Open Settings › Export. “Export Data (JSON)” creates a backup of your entries and metadata; “Export Diary as PDF” creates a shareable document. Use the share sheet to save either wherever you like.

Does it work without Apple Intelligence?

Yes. The app is fully usable without AI; the AI writing features simply don’t appear on devices that don’t support on-device Apple Intelligence.

Which cameras are supported?

Any camera that writes standard EXIF works. When a camera records richer detail in its metadata — lens identification and colour profiles — Diario di Luce reads and displays it automatically.
